The Thumb is a local favorite, and it is not “just your average gas station”! Established in 2012, this gas station and car wash features world class BBQ and is locally owned and operated (close to the Tom’s Thumb trailhead) in North Scottsdale, Arizona.
A little bit about The Thumb According to Trip Advisor: “The Award-Winning BBQ Bistro and Car Wash are worth the trip… The common question – “Tell me how this all came to be?” It all started with the vision of Kipp – owner of The Thumb.
Every day on his travels, either taking the kids to school or just doing daily tasks, Kipp passed by this vacant gas station here on Bell Road in Scottsdale. The idea – serve World Class BBQ in a gas station, and with a full-service car wash to boot…really?? Everyone thought he was crazy. You’d hear – “It’ll never work,” or “Great idea, but not here in Scottsdale.”
After some creative thinking, Kipp was up for the challenge of creating something truly “One-of-a-Kind.” Well, he did just that, and the rest is history! Guy Fieri from Diners Drive-Ins and Dives calls us the “Funky Gas Station dishin’ out da’ bomb brisket!” Wayde and Brett from Tanked love our Brisket Stack and claim our BBQ is “second to none!” “
BBQ, Gifts and more! Also, in addition to the amazing BBQ and food (which can be ordered for catering and events) inside the Thumb, you will find unique gifts and souvenirs. Each season they have new fun items!
A Favorite Spot We have stopped in for lunch and dinner, grabbed energy drinks and filled our tanks at the Thumb. Even been lucky enough to have The Thumb’s BBQ delivered while working on site at Barrett-Jackson down the street from WestWorld. Also have had BBQ for a team lunch during the holidays, and it never disappoints. The customer service is always on point- every single one of the employees is well-trained, knowledgeable, courteous and delightful!
Whether you are a local stopping in to grab a bite, a drink or a treat, getting your car washed and detailed, or grabbing gas (race fuel available), The Thumb has you covered. We know it’s the Thumb, but we give it two enthusiastic thumbs up! We highly recommend you check it out!
